Legendborn: A review of Tracy Deonn’s debut novel


Bree Mathews' life comes to a halt when her mother dies in a car accident. The traumatising incident transforms the 16-year-old into what she calls an “after Bree” version while the old Bree holds on to the grief and loss of her mother, the latter puts up a strong face in front of the world. Things take a 360 degree turn when she joins a residential programme for high scholars, which happens to be her mother’s college too. 


After the first day at school, Bree and her friend are joined by a group of new students at night at an officially illegal place where she witnesses an inscrutable event that leads her to question the death of her mother. 

Will 16-year-old Bree be able to unravel the truth? This is not just one question that ponders in readers minds but a string of questions that follows after. 

Legendborn, Tracy Deonn’s debut novel, keeps you at the edge of your seat until you find the answers that she wants you to find through Bree. Creating a world with the secret societies that exist right in front of our eyes and are still unknown to many, the story is grasping and intriguing at the same time. Gulabo Sitabo- A story of a cat and a mouse trying to get their hold on the piece of cheese.

Sometimes we drown so deep in the ocean of desires of wanting a materialistic thing, that we forget about relationships that matter more than worldly possessions. Mirza played by the versatile actor Sh. Amitabh Bachchan, in Gulabo Sitabo , learns this truth at the very end of the story. Gulabo Sitabo Movie on amazon prime , deals beautifully with the human mind where they showcase how a man can immerse so much into his/her desires and needs that he/she forgets that what is sustainable, worldly things or the relations.  Ayushmaan Khurrana, who plays Baankey, always try to remain in his comfort zone and is convinced that no filthy tactics of Mirza could make Begam evict his family or the other tenants from the Haveli.
