Afsos is a black comedy, Nakul is a frustrated young man who has lost all hopes of becoming a writer. But, his life was never like this before, he was passionate to become a writer and to fulfil his dream he had even left his job. However, he failed at it and many of his relationships too. He didn't lose hope and goes back to do his previous work, but is sacked out. After being fired from a couple of jobs, he loses his patience. When his therapist suggestions and advice fails to change his situation, he decides to take his life. However, he fails at it too. Every time he tries to commit suicide, someone or the other person jumps into the scene and saves him on the cost of their lives. After being frustrated at his own destiny, he discovers an agency that can help him die. So, he signs a contract of his murder. Things change when a new day arises, and he is still alive. ` Raat akeli hai is an irony in the movie “ Raat Akeli hai ” because here no one is alone, let alone the night. The film is set in Kanpur, and in the opening scene is a flashback to take the audience 5 years back then the present day. It is a gloomy night, indicating that something terrible is going to happen; we see a truck following a car, and then it crashes into it. The driver comes out only to kill the victims ruthless.  The film comes to the present day where another murder has taken place. An influential man of Kanpur, Thakur Raghubeer Singh (Khalid Tyabji), has been shot dead on his wedding night and in his own bedroom. And, no one in the house has heard a thing.  It is when Jatil (Nawazuddin) with other cops come into the picture to probe the murder. Jatil, as the name signifies is firm, and takes pride in saying it too. He announces to the family members that the case has come in his hands, and he will do anything to uncover the murderer. Sometimes we drown so deep in the ocean of desires of wanting a materialistic thing, that we forget about relationships that matter more than worldly possessions. Mirza played by the versatile actor Sh. Amitabh Bachchan, in Gulabo Sitabo , learns this truth at the very end of the story. Gulabo Sitabo Movie on amazon prime , deals beautifully with the human mind where they showcase how a man can immerse so much into his/her desires and needs that he/she forgets that what is sustainable, worldly things or the relations.  Ayushmaan Khurrana, who plays Baankey, always try to remain in his comfort zone and is convinced that no filthy tactics of Mirza could make Begam evict his family or the other tenants from the Haveli. Hence most of the times, Bankeey comes up with excuses for not paying a meagre rent of 30 rupees to Mirza.
